LEVEL UP YOUR GAMES: FROM 5E TO INDIE

Written by: Jodie's Dice Farm

Dungeons and Dragons can be fantastic, but using 'official' books there's only so much content, and it might not be quite what you're looking for for your own game - and hey, you might not be looking for Dungeons and Dragons at all. There is some absolutely fantastic third-party content out there, from content to add on or include in your D&D games, or entire systems built from scratch! That's why we've collected some of our favourites, and made this handy guide so you can find fun things to include in your games, things to make your games easier, and even some brand-new games entirely.

We will start with a run-down of the best 5e-compatible content!
TOE BEANS: A MAGICAL CAT CAFE FOR 5E

This charming homebrewed shop module is a total delight - it's the home of Mara the shopkeep and his crew of cats, serving magically infused goodies! This gives you the cafe description, personalities of not only Mara but each of his kitty waiters, a full menu, a rolling table of NPC patrons, some magic items, and even 2 quest hooks with modified stat blocks! You can get it as a PDF, but if you go for the physical edition you get the 14-page module, 6 printed menus, 6 loyalty cards for players, a sticker sheet of paw prints for the loyalty cards, 9 item cards, and even tea bag labels! The reviews even say that it's worked perfectly in other systems like Iron Valley!

DEVEROS IN A NUTSHELL

Deveros is a city campaign setting for 5e (AND Pathfinder 2e!) that is high fantasy, and this is a 112 page softcover book introducing you to the world of Vynestra and the culture of the Aldarin Empire! You'll get an overview of how VYnestra works, a preview of spells, feats and backgrounds a quickstart guide to Deveros including it's custom rulesets for things like bathing and offering to the gods - and a full adventure from level 1-3! This is an introduction book, with bigger offerings coming from Vynestra in the near future.

THE KEEP BATTLEMAP PACK

Something that can come in super handy for tabletop games is maps - and books aren't often the best way to try to show your characters where they are. That's why artists like Lucky Fox are doing such a service; creating maps that can truly immerse your characters in your world, whether that's The Forgotten Realms or your own world! The pack even includes music tracks and sound effects, with a battle variant of the music!

DND 5E CHARACTER JOURNAL BUNDLE

We had to throw in something for the players as well as the DM - we all know that the standard D&D character sheet can be a bit boring, and somewhat limiting. There's such an array of custom and alternate character sheets around, but with this, you can create an entire character journal just by printing out the pages you want or need!

And now, something for those who like to adventure away from 5e...

WOAD: STONE TO STONE

After WOAD's wildly successful Kickstarter campaign, this Welsh mythology-inspired game is available to preorder! The game is a journaling RPG, using custom tarot mechanics to tell your story. Designed so that you can play historically accurate stories, or rewrite history as you see fit - this is a fantastic game for anyone that loves folklore and mythology,
